Sandro Botticelli probably was the most important Italian painter of the Early Renaissance. His most notable work is without a doubt "The Birth of Venus", a huge painting that is exposed in the "Galleria degli Uffizi" in Firenze. He was influenced in his art by Fra Filippo Lippi and Antonio Pollaiuolo. The repeated contacts with the Medici family were undoubtedly useful for granting him political protection and creating conditions ideal for his production of several masterpieces.
